My theory is that Death of the Family will end with Batman having to defend the Joker from the other members of the Bat Family, who all intend to kill him. Batman will be able to defeat them, but the Joker will “die” somehow (Obviously he’ll be back eventually, but Snyder says that he doesn’t intend to use him after this arc ends).
The “Death” of the family isn’t taken literally, but instead will be a death of the family in a metaphoric sense. The Bat Family won’t be close nit anymore, but instead will be resentful of Bruce, and won’t trust him anymore.

That certainly would be a great ending to this arc. Thanks for the comment!

Part of me thinks that DC is going to shake things up by killing off Alfred and replacing him with Harper Row. Maybe, just maybe this new DC universe stands out from the old one and they will try something new like Superman and Wonder Woman being a couple. Of course there’s the other part of me that realizes that Batman is their most successful franchise and they aren’t going to mess with the status quo too much beyond the norm.

That’s a great point about Harper Row. I mean, Snyder has not only said Row is important, but he’s dedicated a whole issue to her.

At this point, it’s kind of plausible that Alfred will be replaced by Row. Or, at the very least, DOTF will finally be the vehicle to bring Row into a more prominent role. I think she’s a good character.
